Asus has surprised any people back at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) back in January, not only because they released a smartphone with 4GB of RAM, but because of its price. Asus has unveiled the company’s new ZenFone 2 line of devices, and the most powerful of them sports 4GB of RAM and costs only around $280 in Taiwan. The company has since launched multiple ZenFone 2 models in China as well, and it seems like Asus’ new devices are on their way to India as well. The newest report claims that this Taiwan-based company will launch multiple ZenFone models in India on April 13th, when they’ll hold an event in that Asian country in order to showcase the device. Asus is sticking to their promise and is releasing these devices in Q2 all over the place, Taiwan and China are done, India will follow soon, and according to the latest information Canada will also follow in April.
The top-of-the-line ZenFone 2 handset features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 4GB of DDR3 RAM and 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage. Intel’s Atom Z3580 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz is powering on this device. 13-megapixel camera is located on its back, and a 5-megapixel snapper is available on the front. The 32GB variant is priced at around $270 in Taiwan, and the 64GB variant costs $322. This is Asus’ crown jewel as far as smartphones go, at least at the moment. The company has also released a couple more ZenFone 2 handset, which carry somewhat lower specs. The ZenFone 2 (ZE551ML) features 2GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage and is powered by Intel’s Z3560 quad-core SoC clocked at 1.8GHz. Those are the only differences between the two devices. The two lower-end models come with 720p displays 5 and 5.5-inches in size (ZE550CL and ZE550ML), and sport 16GB of internal storage. Both of them sport 2GB of RAM, Intel’s quad-core chips on the inside and are priced at $158 and $190 in Taiwan, respectively.
All of the device above ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop with Asus’ ZenUI on top of Google’s operating system and 4G LTE connectivity is present and accounted for. It remains to be seen how much will they cost once they reach India, stay tuned.
