Android Lollipop-Powered Flyme 5.0 Beta Screenshot Leaks, Meizu To Release The Update Soon

Meizu working on Lollipop update_1

Meizu is an up-and-coming China-based smartphone manufacturer. This company did a great job in 2014 and has released a couple of really compelling devices, but neither of those devices is running the latest version of Android at this point. Meizu has announced that they’re working on Android 5.0 Lollipop update for their devices quite a while ago, and a new report confirmed that earlier this month. According to that info, the company will release the Android Lollipop-powered Flyme by the end of this month, though we’re probably talking about a beta version here.

Well, a screenshot appeared on Weibo (Chinese social network) recently, showing a Meizu smartphone running Flyme OS 5.0.3A (Beta) build of the software. It seems like the update is right around the corner, and we might even see it launched by the end of this month, as previous rumor suggested. This update will first roll out to Meizu MX4 and MX4 Pro handsets, which were flagship devices for the company in 2014, and the MX4 Pro still is. This screenshot doesn’t exactly reveal a lot of information, but it does confirm that the update is in beta, which means it’s close to launch. The Meizu’s custom ROM is based on Android 5.0.2 Kernel, and the Flyme OS 5.0 is in its 5.0.3A iteration.

Many people are eagerly awaiting this update to become a reality, and by the looks of it, Meizu will launch something by the end of this month. The company will either launch a stable version of Flyme 5.0, or they will release an open beta version of it. Either way, you should be able to update your Meizu MX4 and / or Meizu MX4 Pro handset at the end of this month. We don’t know much about the update at this point, at least as far as Flyme is concerned. You’ll of course get a lot of improvements Google introduced in Lollipop, but it remains to be seen what features will Meizu introduce in Flyme itself. That being said, do you own a Meizu-branded device? Let us know what you think of it, Meizu devices seem to be rather popular lately, and we’d love to hear what you have to say.
