Amazon Prime Now 1-Hour Delivery Heads to Dallas

Amazon Prime Now has added another city to its coverage map. Amazon Prime Now, the 1-hour delivery service of “daily essentials” like toys, books, some groceries and household items.

This news comes just a week after Amazon expanded the offering to Baltimore and Miami. Now, Amazon Prime Now deliveries are available in four metro cities, including New York City. The best news is that if you’re already a Prime member — and, of course, you already live in one of these four cities — two-hour deliveries are free, and one-hour deliveries cost $7.99. This is an interesting expansion to the Prime membership, which already offers free shipping to anywhere in the United States, access to Amazon’s streaming video and music service, and even discounts on certain items. Hopefully, Amazon will expand the Prime Now offering to even more cities. According to Amazon, the company plans to expand to additional cities across the U.S. in 2015, although it has yet to detail what metros the service will be coming to. Amazon noted that Prime users can download the Prime Now app on iOS and Android devices to get notified when the service is available in their local area.

“We know Dallas members are going to love the convenience of one-hour delivery through Prime Now,” said Dave Clark, Amazon’s senior vice president of worldwide operations. “Our existing operations in Dallas-area that utilize advanced technology to fulfill customer orders are now home to a Prime Now hub that is fueling this super-fast delivery.”

The Prime Now delivery service will be available from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week, according to Amazon. The company declined to give an official number of members of the Amazon Prime service, but noted that it was “tens of millions.”
