Ultimate Ears To Introduce Feature For Connecting Up To 10 Plus Boom Or MegaBoom Speakers

AH UE Mega Boom-20

When it comes to wireless Bluetooth speakers, there are plenty to choose from on the market, with various different prices, colors, styles, sound quality, size and more. The options are virtually endless. If you’re willing to shell out a little more though, the Ultimate Ears Boom or Ultimate Ears Mega Boom speakers are probably some of the best you can find right now. You can check out our review of the speakers here. They offer up some amazing quality sound, exceptionally long battery life, and their surprisingly more portable than one would think. They also offer a water and stain resistant outer body so there’s no fear of getting these a little wet should something spill on them. All that won’t come cheap though, as each Boom will cost you $199 while each Mega Boom will cost you $299, so be prepared to spend a little money if you want one or two of these units.

Why would you want multiple of either speaker? The beauty of the Ultimate Ears Boom and Mega Boom surely lies in their sound quality more than anything else. If you have two of either speaker though, or a combination of the two, you can use the Ultimate Ears app to connect two of them up together using the app’s “Double Up” feature for a surround sound like experience that really displays how good the audio can be. Ultimate Ears is due to be pushing out a new update to the speakers and app though that will allow customers to connect up to 10 or more Boom and/or Mega Boom speakers that will take that surround sound to the next level, somewhat akin to what one might experience from the Sonos line of speakers that lets you connect multiple speakers up to each other wirelessly, albeit with its own wireless network of sorts as opposed to connecting to your phone through Bluetooth like the UE speakers.

According to Re/Code who first reported on this and got to test out the feature, the update isn’t supposed to coming out till around the summer time, so it’ll be a bit yet before consumers and owners of the Ultimate Ears speakers will have the chance to hook up multiple units. Then again, the summer isn’t that far off. If you already own a UE Boom or UE Mega Boom, or a couple of either, start saving up or put aside that extra cash for one more of these down the line so you can be prepared for when this feature goes public. You can find the Boom speakers on Amazon, and of course on the UE site, and you can find the UE MEGABOOM through UE’s site as well.
