Snupped is a company that specialises in custom cases for a variety of tech including laptops, tablets and smartphones. The Singapore-based company allows you to design and customise cases using a favourite photo or you can choose from a selection of designer artwork.
Snupped recently released customisable hard covers for the Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact and sent over a couple of samples for us to check out. Snupped ships worldwide and is confident enough in its products to offer 30-day refunds. Click through to read our impressions on the SpaceCase custom cases.
The SpaceCase is a custom hard case for smartphones. This case has an impact-resistant shell that covers the back and sides of the phone, leaving full access to all ports and buttons.
The picture below shows the Xperia Z3 case (left) and Xperia Z3 Compact case (right). The hard plastic used has a matte finish and looks reasonably hard wearing.
Obviously, the whole point with these cases is that you can customise the cases to fit your own personality. The cases cost $34, which isn’t cheap for a hard shell case, but you do get to choose your own design.
As you can see from the pictures of the Xperia Z3 case below, all ports and buttons are easily accessible – including the magnetic charging pins.
The case offers light protection against bumps and scrapes, hence the top and bottom front edges are exposed. All four corners of the phone are covered though, which should help protect the phone in a fall.
You would hardly notice that there is any case used when looking at the phone from the front. It adds very little weight and bulk.
The Snupped Xperia Z3 Compact case we were sent has a funky pattern design that really sets it apart.
Once again, there is access to all of the necessary ports and buttons of the phone – including the magnetic pins.
The case provides lightweight protection and has all four corners covered.
As with the Xperia Z3 case, this case for the Z3 Compact leaves the front edges exposed on the top and bottom. There is ample space around the headphone jack to support most 3.5mm plugs around.
The case has perfect cutouts around the camera too, which shouldn’t interfere when taking pictures.
The case fits the Xperia Z3 Compact perfectly and was easy to install – sometimes it can be a pain to fit hard plastic covers onto a phone, but we didn’t find this with the Snupped SpaceCase. Thankfully, it wasn’t too tricky to remove either.
Overall impressions
The Snupped SnapCase is a simple lightweight hard shell for your phone that allows you to carry your own design. The customisation is done well and doesn’t look like it will fade anytime soon. This is not just some sticker around the shell, the design has been ‘baked’ into the plastic and it appears it will last.
Yes, this customisation comes at a high cost ($34), some people may forgo the customisation for a cheaper alternative. However, if you want to express the personality of your phone to the outside world, then Snupped has you covered. If you’re interested, head over to the site and get customising.
