Meizu has launched their extremely affordable mid-range M1 handset on January 28, that is also their first new handset of the year. This device went on sale in China today, and the company sold out everything they had within a minute. According to Meizu, they sold out 100,000 units of this device in that timeframe, which paints you a nice picture of this device, and how many people want to get it in China. I’m sure Meizu will hold yet another flash sale in the coming weeks and sell more of these handsets. In the meantime though, we have some news regarding a new version of the M1 handset.
Another Meizu device popped up in China, it received radio certification in that Asia country. This handset will support TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE Chinese networks according to the listing, but we really don’t know much about it at this point. There are reports in China which claim that this might be the 2GB version of the Meizu M1 though, and perhaps even YunOS-powered handset. The YunOS-powered Meizu handset rumors have been going around for a long time now in China, and we still haven’t seen this Chinese company release anything of the sort nor even confirm that something like that is in the works. We are, however, expecting them to release an Ubuntu-powered Meizu handset in the near future. This handset could be basically anything at this point, but a 2GB version of the M1 device is definitely a possibility. In case you don’t remember, Xiaomi has announced the 2GB version of the Redmi 2 handset, which actually makes all the sense in the world, and Meizu might do something similar.
