Huawei And HiSilicion Partnership Will Continue, The Separation Rumors Were False

As you probably already know, Huawei is one of those smartphone manufacturers who also make their own processors. Huawei’s HiSilicion Kirin chips are actually really good and Huawei has been including them in their handsets for quite some time now. Some rumors surfaced recently that HiSilicon might separate from Huawei, but it seems like that’s not going to happen after all. These are actually great news for Huawei, because they’re the only smartphone vendor, next to Samsung and LG, who make their own chips (sort of). Anyhow, let’s see what’s what.

Both of these companies have confirmed that they will continue they partnership and that these rumors were fake. Let’s clear this up, these are separate companies, but they’ve been partners for quite some time now and HiSilicon chips are being used exclusively by Huawei at this point, I don’t think these SoC’s have been used by an another company to this day. I also have to say that HiSilicon chips are really great these days and I’m looking forward to seeing where will this partnership go in the future. Huawei did great in 2014, they’ve improved in basically every way and their financial results definitely show that. The company has released a couple of really compelling handset in 2014 and all of them are powered by HiSilicon Kirin chips. I’ve had the opportunity to play around with some Kirin-powered devices and was really impressed with their performance.

Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 925 SoC, and the upcoming Huawei P8 handset will also sport one of the Kirin chips. The latest HiSilicon Kirin SoC that was released by the company is the Kirin 930, and I’m sure that SoC will be put to good use this year, the P8 will possibly be powered by this chip. There you have it, any rumor that you might have seen about the separation of Huawei and HiSilicon is false, and it seems like basically every Huawei devices will be powered by HiSilicion’s Kirin processors this year, which is actually a good thing in my humble opinion. Your thoughts?
