If memory serves well then you might remember almost a year ago it was being reported that a Kickstarter project has gone live for a company/product dubbed Console OS. To briefly recap, this was being touted as a means and ways to bring the android operating system to a PC. Of course, there are already a number of options already available and countless Android PC emulators but the logic behind Console OS was to offer a more native approach to a PC version of android in spite of it not being native.
Well, the project did go live in June of last year and reached full funding in July which was long before the scheduled end of the Kickstarter phase. As such, there was clearly some demand for the service being offered. That said, there has not been too much news on Console OS since reaching funding. Well, this week, the folks behind the OS announced that Console OS is now available as a beta to download and install on your PC. However, as this is a beta, the supported compatibility is quite limited at the moment with only a few PC options limited. That said, the developers do make it clear that they plan to increase the level of compatible devices and brands in the weeks to come.
Console OS is built on Android 4.4 (KitKat) and primarily designed to run on Intel or Atom processor running machines. The OS allows for a single boot option (where the OS is your main operating system) or can also be used in dual-boot mode so that you can retain use of your original option (which is probably the safer bet). With the OS installed you will be able to run a number of your android apps directly from your PC and there is also a feature where you can actually run two side-by-side android apps at the same time. Not to mention you can take advantage of the android gaming world directly on your machine.
