You Can Now Train Your Brain Via Your Moto 360 With Smartsays, A Brain Fitness Game

Android Wear smartwatches are first and foremost about quick glances at notifications coming from your smartphone, with added capabilities to shoot out a quick message reply to incoming notifications without having to touch your device. Over the last few months though we’ve even seen apps for Android Wear come out that are actually tiny games meant to be played from the screen on your wrist. The same is true with this new memory focused game from a developer named Schlawinsky. The game is called Smartsays and aims to bring people with a Moto 360 the ability to engage themselves with a little memory enhancing game for the “in-between” times. You know, those times when you have nothing better to do while you sit in the waiting room at any doctor’s or dental office.

Smartsays is all about giving you the ability to “fulfill the need for quick, high-level memory training.” The developer references the hit pop culture game from yesteryear called Simon, which tasked you with matching up color sequences in the correct order that the game would display them to players. Smartsays is more or less a re-imagined vision of the popular memory game, with improved visual style in a neat little package you can literally take with you anywhere since it’s meant for your smartwatch.

Smartsays follows the same concept of Simon, requiring users to watch the game display a sequence of random colors and then tasking the players with repeating the colors from memory. The more you play the better you’ll get at remembering which colors pop up, thus training your brain and enhancing your memory skills. Now, i’ve been fairly open about how ridiculous I feel games on the Android Wear platform are. How disconnected from society can we get that we actually need to have games available to us on our watch. If you want to zone out in public, kill the time, immerse yourself or whatever, pull out your phone and there’s a vastly larger set of games to help you complete this task. That being said, this is actually a neat little idea as it seems to make perfect use of the screen size on the Moto 360 and the entire reason for playing this game actually has some usefulness to it, which is memory training, unlike the Android Wear port we saw of Flappy Bird… With Smartsays, you’ll notice things get increasingly difficult as the rounds progress, and the game will add one new color each round to make things a tad bit harder to remember. As colors and difficulty increases, so too does the speed of the sequence. Players also have the ability to select three different game modes as well as multiple difficulty levels. It even has a scoring system set up to determine their individual training level. The game is free and is on the Play Store now for Moto 360 owners. If you need something to help train your memory whenever you have a few free moments, Smartsays could be just the way to do it.
