Lava is an Indian smartphone manufacturer which usually manufactures solid mid-range handsets for the Indian market. The company has unveiled the Iris Fuel 60 handset back in December and now they’re back with a slightly more expensive EG932 device. This is also a mid-ranger, as we’re used to seeing by Lava. Anyhow, let’s take a look at this handset’s specification and see what it has to offer for the price Lava is asking for it.
Lava’s EG932 handset features a 5-inch 960 x 540 qHD display along with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage which is expandable via microSD card up to 64GB. This handset is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, the listing doesn’t reveal its brand, but I’m rather certain we’re talking about a MediaTek chip here. This device has a 5-megapixel camera on its back which is flanked by an LED flash and there’s a 0.3-megapixel shooter located up front. Android 4.3 JellyBean comes pre-installed on this device, unfortunately it’s not KitKat. Two SIM slots are available on this device (CDMA / GSM + GSM) and this is a 3G device, no 4G LTE connectivity here, unfortunately. The handset is 10.3mm thick and it weighs 160 grams. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS are all a part of the package and the device ships with a 2,000mAh battery.
This handset is available in Black color only and is priced at Rs. 11,989 at Snapdeal, which around $190. I’d argue there are far better devices out on the market for that amount of money, I really do think Lava went a bit too far here. The display is subpar, the device comes with Android JellyBean, doesn’t support 4G LTE connectivity and quite frankly ships with rather poor cameras. I doubt the company will sell many of these handsets considering a rather high price compared to this device’s specs. The design isn’t anything special at all, it looks rather industrial, which I like, but I guess most people don’t, considering its design is not flashy by any stretch of the imagination. Do you think this handset is too expensive? Let us know, we’d love to hear from you, as usual.
