The Keurig is rapidly becoming a mainstay of many homes, and for excellent reason; it’s a lot easier and simpler to brew a decent cup of coffee for those who need it near to hand. And this, of course, means that not only will the Keurig be everywhere, it will also be fitted into other objects as a gimmick. And so it is with GE and Keurig making a fridge that makes your coffee for you.
Sadly Not Iced
In some ways, this does make a lot of sense. Modern fridges have water dispensers that filter both cold and hot water, so really it was just a matter of time before somebody put a coffeemaker into the thing.
Still, the concept is pretty cool. It works pretty much exactly like a standard Keurig. You pop open the cup holder, close it, pick your serving, and let the sweet delicious nectar flow into your cup. And it does save some space, as GE and Keurig both point out. Although, let’s face it, if you can buy a fridge this gimmicky, space probably isn’t an issue.
Space Saver
That said, something being really cool is, and there’s value in this beyond just people adding another gadget to their kitchen. Workspaces, for example, could probably benefit from a fridge and coffee machine combined into one. Still, it’s a little gimmicky, and if you’re going to go gimmicky, let’s go all out. Somebody put a keg tap on this thing!
