We’ve all seen that life sized Chrome colored Android statue hanging out of the window at the Google campus in Mountain View. Think of part 6 of the “Meet The Androids” series 5 preview as a miniature version of that. It’s appropriately named ‘Chrome’ and it’s designed by the team at Google Inc. This marks the 7th total figurine so far that we’ve seen of the upcoming series 5 release of Android collectibles, and Andrew Bell notes that we may remember the shiny gold version Android collectible that was released from last year’s series 4. He says that the mirror finish was just too popular not to bring back and that they had to do a complete Chrome model after multiple requests.
Alongside the newly polished Chrome Android figure, we’ve also seen Sk8 Cop and Panda from part 1 of the series 5 preview, as well as Totem from part 2, Hello World from part 3, Ice In My Belly from part 4, and the second most recent preview with Sturnbrau from part 5, which you can see an image of down below. There should be around 15 or 16 different collectibles in all, which fits nicely as there is a total of 16 collectible figurines in a case of these when they officially go up for sale which is slated to be very soon.
Other than buying a case, if you want to start collecting these little guys but you aren’t a die hard, you’ll be able to buy them in single pieces for about $10. Each figure you buy will be a blind box, so you really won’t know what you get until you open it. Frankly though, that’s half the fun of getting these things is the surprise of not knowing what you hold in your hands. To that end of course, any hardcore collector of these figures hopes and dreams to get one of every piece offered in the series, which isn’t out of reach if you just go for the case. Keep in mind that once these things hit the online shelves of the Dead Zebra shop, they aren’t available for long. Dead Zebra opens up the shop to sell each series for a limited time early in the morning the day of release, and then once again at night for a second wave of refreshed stock. Meaning you have to be quick about ordering if you want to solidify your guarantee at a purchase.
