Xiaomi is currently the number one smartphone manufacturer in China and the company just keeps on growing, this is one of the fastest growing smartphone OEMs in the world, probably even the number one on that list as well. This company has shipped around 60 million devices this year, which is quite staggering for a company which is only about 4 years old (was founded in 2010). That being said, Xiaomi is best known for their smartphone offerings, but they also manufacture tablets and all other gadgets like, TV Boxes, Air Purifiers… etc. Their Mi brand consists of a bunch of tech gadgets of all kinds, even a smart TV is a part of Xiaomi’s lineup.
One thing that Xiaomi doesn’t manufacture are computers, but it seems like that might change in the near future. The latest rumor coming from China suggests that Xiaomi is going to enter the PC market with their very own laptop offering. This is not just a rumors though, a bunch of images come along with it, so we also have a proof, well, sort of. If you take a look at the gallery below this article, you’ll notice a bunch of images showing off this device and as you can see it really does resemble Apple’s Macbook offering, in many ways, but we won’t get into that all that much, there’s no point really. You can see Xiaomi’s “Mi” logo below the display and on the back, it’s orange and I really don’t like that, it just sticks out way too much. This laptop is made out of aluminum it seems, but we have no way of confirming that.
Regarding the specs, this rumor clears that up as well, at least partially. Intel’ Haswell i7 4500U chip is expected to power on this thing along with 16GB of RAM (two 8GB dual-channel memory modules). The source says that the device will feature a 15-inch 1080p display and cost 2,999 Yuan ($481), which is actually unbelievably affordable for such a powerful device. This is a rather strange rumor, and as usual, take the given info with a pinch of salt. This rumor definitely surprised me and I’m rather intrigued now, but let’s wait for some more info before we draw any conclusions.
