Google is not frequently known to have any of its apps out of sync with its other products, but surprisingly, the My Tracks app has been on the back-burner when it’s come to the Google Fit app. Many other apps, like Strava, have had Google Fit integration for a while now. That ends today as Google has finally introduced its two fitness apps to each other.
My Tracks is a simplified GPS fitness app that records your path and elevation, be it running, hiking or bike riding. My Tracks also allows you to view your progress live, annotate any information you wish to include, hear voice updates, sync to Google Drive and share your map from Drive or to social media. Unfortunately, though, My Tracks is lacking Google’s material design aesthetics, so it’s not exactly the prettiest app to look at.
My Tracks has had Android Wear integration since the beginning, so in a way it mingled with Google Fit, but now you can sync your activities directly to the Fit app from My Tracks. This is accomplished in the Settings for My Tracks by checking a box allowing Google Fit sync.
This update brings My Tracks to version 2.0.9. Check out the Play Store link below to update My Tracks or download it if you’re interested.
