T-Mobile Will Only Be Sending Stock Of The Nexus 6 To Select Locations On The 12th

Save for the fact that it has been nearly impossible to get a hold of the Nexus 6 through Google Play so far since the launch, this year’s Nexus phone should be quite a bit easier to pick up over time than previous years given that it’s going to be available on all four major U.S. carriers with Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint, and even U.S. Cellular will be carrying the device. T-Mobile has offered the last three Nexus phones in their retail locations at one point, so one would think that even though the Google Play orders aren’t happening for many, you’d at least be able to walk into your local carrier store and grab one from them if you’re a T-Mobile customer.

According to this screenshot of what looks like an internal T-Mobile memo sent in to Android Police, you won’t be able to go into just any T-Mobile retail location and buy the Nexus 6. That’s because only specific carrier stores will be getting the device for availability on its scheduled date, while all other retail locations who don’t get stock of the phone right away will only be able to sell it through T-Mobile’s ship to fulfill option, which is ordering the phone inside of a retail location and then having it mailed out to you.

T-Mobile states this is due to “inventory constraints” and so only some stores will get stock of the product on November 12th when the phone is set to reach the T-Mobile network. Which stores will end up getting it? Usually with this kind of a situation, T-Mobile ends up sending inventory of high demand devices to the busiest locations, otherwise known as their top tier stores, which are basically the ones that do the most volume in sales. When more stock begins to trickle in they start to send the devices out to other lower tier locations. How do you find out which locations near you are top tier or not? Simply just call and ask if your store will have any in stick on the 12th if you’re looking to buy it. Past having actual stock of the phone to sell to customers, T-Mobile is sending out demo device units to about 1,800 of its retail locations to put out on display for customers to at least check out in the flesh. Are you buying a Nexus 6 on T-Mobile?
