Sprint’s Variant Of Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Visits The FCC

Along with introducing its long-awaited Galaxy Note 4 phablet, Gear VR virtual reality headset and showcasing its Gear S smartwatch, Samsung also introduced company’s odd-looking concept device, Galaxy Note Edge. All of this happened at this year’s IFA in Berlin in September and since then we’ve seen tons of news about each of these devices, mainly Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge. We’re here to focus on the Note Edge, its US variant that is. This device has visited the FCC two times this month already, AT&T variant was there first and was followed by T-Mobile’s version. It was just a matter of time when we’ll see Sprint and Verizon variants show up at FCC, well, as far as Sprint goes, that just happened. SM-N915P model number showed up in FCC filing and has been approved. This variant offers support for Sprint’s network, LTE band 26, LTE band 25 (PCS) and LTE band 41 are included. The only one left now is Verizon, I presume we’ll see Verizon’s variant show up at FCC in the coming days as well.

As I said, Galaxy Note Edge is a rather odd device. It carries most of Note 4’s specifications and yet it has a rather distinctive feature when you look at it, a side, “Edge” screen. This display functions as a completely separate panel from the main screen and changes depending on what is currently on the main screen. This panel is also customizable to some extent and can be rather useful, you can even use it as an extremely dim night clock. Let me give you an example of it, if you’re for example in Camera app, this Edge screen will show you the shutter button along with all the other camera option and will make the main screen a viewfinder only, which will give you a nice preview of your image without anything getting in the way.

Galaxy Note Edge comes with a 5.6-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display and is powered by a Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor clocked at 2.7GHz which comes with an Adreno 420 GPU. 3GB of RAM are available on the inside and the phone comes with 32 or 64GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD card up to 64GB). 16-megapixel OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) camera can be found at the back of the device while there’s a 3.7-megapixel camera up front. 3000mAh battery is also part of the package as well as Android 4.4.4 Kitkat with Samsung’s Revolving UX UI on top of it. The device measures 151.3 x 82.4 x 8.3mm and it weighs 174 grams. If you want to check out its full specs list, visit this link.
