Amazon is known far and wide for being one of the biggest retail behemoths on a global scale. Although anyone that doesn’t shop online or have any idea what Amazon is might never know it. That’s because Amazon, as we is a huge online retail website where you can pretty much buy anything you could ever want and have it shipped out to you in just a day or two. In some locations you can even get stuff shipped out same day and have it there in a matter of hours. That might all soon change though as Amazon is now rumored to be preparing to open and launch their very first physical retail location.
Where might this new store be located when it’s ready you ask? If it pans out to be true, the expected location is in Manhattan, reportedly on 34th street, and is supposed to be open just in time for the busy holiday shopping season, just blocks away from the Macy’s flagship store that sees millions and millions of annual customers. This could prove to be a great location for Amazon as as there are many other retail stores around so it should get plenty of exposure. Just like with Amazon’s mobile devices though, opening an Amazon retail store is, according to Wells Fargo Analyst Matt Nemer, marketing the Amazon brand name. Although there will be no way to know just yet, it’s likely that most people will still do their Amazon shopping from the comfort of their own home, favorite coffee shop, or where ever else they may be with access to the Amazon website. The store however, could be an easy way for people to see that Amazon has things to sell, and if they order online than they could presumably pick items up at this retail location. It’s also rumored that it could be used for that same day shipping we mentioned earlier, but for the immediate Manhattan area.
While using the building as a housing for any items that may need to be shipped out same day or picked up from consumers who have ordered items, it’s said that Amazon might use the location to show off Amazon related products too, like the Amazon Fire TV, Fire Phone, and Kindle devices and tablets, much like we see from Google with their pop up sections with in Best Buy stores for their Chrome products. Right now this is just a rumor and Amazon hasn’t confirmed anything, but if it ends up opening and does well, we could see other physical Amazon retail shops open across the country, or at least a few other major U.S. cities.
