For weeks now there has been widespread speculation about the Google Nexus 6, its features and specifications. If by some chance you have missed the news today then you would have missed the actual features and specifications by those who know, Motorola and Google. In case you did then here is a brief recap (if you didn’t then sorry about this in advance). The Motorola Nexus 6 comes with a whopping 5.9” QHD AMOLED display with a 1440 x 250 resolution (493 ppi). Inside the Nexus 6 is loaded with 3GB RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core CPU (clocks at 2.7GHz). On the back there is a 12MP camera while the front comes with a more modest 2MP shooter. In terms of memory the Nexus 6 comes in both 32 and 64GB variants and is powered by a decent sized 3,200 mAh battery. And before you ask, yes, the Nexus 6 comes pre-loaded with Android 5.0…that’s Lollipop by the way.
So all in all the nexus 6 is a rather good device and as you can see above there are plenty of reasons to pick one up. However and this is a big however, there is one glaring reason which since its launch this morning has started putting people off. The price! Yes, unlike the Nexus 5 the 6 is not so modestly priced. Instead this is a big sized phone with big specs and a big price tag. In fact, the device is priced around the $700 marker which in anyone’s books is rather significant. With that in mind its worth noting any additional features which might help to persuade (or dissuade even) in making your decision. Any nugget of extra features or specs will be welcomed so here is another titbit you can add to the pro side of your “Do I buy the Nexus 6” pros and cons list. The device is Waterproof.
Whoa, I didn’t say it was the Sony Xperia Z3 now. The Nexus 6 is waterproof although you won’t be swimming, surfing or even dunking it in your fish tank to see….well a phone in a fish tank. No, the Nexus 6 is listed as waterproof although lacks any official IP ratings (which are needed to verify its proper waterproof legitimacy). As such it is far more likely to actually be splash proof than waterproof like the Moto X. So it will withstand the rain, maybe your spilt cup of coffee and the occasional splash back and that’s about it. This information does not seem to be listed on Google’s Nexus spec sheet although it is listed on Motorola’s so we thought it best to point it out.
