HTC’s RE Camera Gets Announced In India, Will Be Available For INR 9990

HTC RE Camera

Due to constant losses HTC was forced to cut costs and change the business structure of the company a bit. This re-structuring isn’t over yet, but we’re seeing significant changes already. HTC managed to turn profit in Q3 thanks to cutting costs, which is actually great for the company, though they’re still not selling nearly enough devices and the company has to find a solution for that problem. HTC held an event in New York recently and introduced two rather odd devices, HTC Desire Eye and a RE Camera. First device is a rather well-specced smartphone which has a 13-megapixel sensor and a dual-LED flash on the back and on the front of the device. This thing comes packed with all sorts of software features and it’s just odd looking considering that huge camera and dual-LED flash on the front of it.

The other device I mentioned, RE Camera, is however completely un-typical for HTC. This Taiwanese company is a smartphone manufacturer which unsuccessfully released a tablet a while back and a RE Camera is neither of those. This device is odd on its own and if you consider HTC made it, things get even weirder. Anyhow, that aside, RE Camera is a rather nifty device which is basically an action cam and a direct competitor to GoPro camera. This thing comes with a 16-megapixel sensor and a 146-degree wide-angle lens which is capable of recording full HD video and 120 FPS slow motion video at 720p. It comes with IP57 rating and it records Zoe videos as well. You can find out more about if you visit this link.

RE Camera got announced in India, it will be on sale soon for INR 9,990, which comes to about $161. You’ll be able to get it exclusively from Snapdeal, so if you want one and live in India… stay tuned. Do you think this is the right move by HTC? They really have to start selling more devices in order to keep turning profit quarter after quarter, cutting costs can help, but it’s definitely not the solution for this company’s problems. It’s going to be quite interesting to see how will these two devices sell in the coming months.
