ClipPod turns your Google Calendar into a project and meeting management tool

ClipPod’s widget ensures simpler Google Calendar management

In a typical office, when a day has just begun or is about to end, everyone seeks an answer to the common query – what’s the project status? Next comes a shuffling of the notes, reminders, email trails, checking calendars, and firing up the fancy software suite. Then add a few hectic meetings, busy schedules, and deadline pressure.

Even while collaborating, not everyone can keep up with the variety of software tools used to get things done. That’s when the technologically savvy sport a smug while the challenged ones tear their hair apart.

Today, daily operations are often layered with multiple software tools to stay abreast of business goals in minimal time. In that process, as mere mortals, we love to make things complex. American poet and journalist, Walt Whitman reminds us – simplicity is the glory of expression.

Many capital-rich companies buy complex project management software like Jira, Microsoft Project, and many more.

Small businesses and startups, however, opt for Trello, Asana, ZOHO Projects, ProjectLibre, and Google Drive.

A steep learning curve is one common attribute among the above software. Wouldn’t your teammates love an easier way to organize, manage, assign and track all the tasks?

That’s where ClipPod comes in. ClipPod is a widget to collaborate over Google Calendar. You can manage projects, meetings, and share notes. You can also update colleagues on tasks and sub-tasks, upload presentations, and make appointments.

Gupta started building the app in June with two part-time developers and one design guy. It has over 1,000 registered users so far. He has been shelling money out of his pocket to manage the company so far.

Anyone with a Google or Google Apps account can simply add ClipPod to the Google Calendar, authorize it, and then start using it. No signup or login is needed.

For adding files, ClipPod supports Google Drive and Dropbox. It claims to have the access to the date’s event ID only and not the content of your discussion, which should reassure users worried about privacy.

As the next logical step, the company is working on a mobile app to extend its usability on Android and iOS based devices. In the future, the company will employ a freemium model for Google Apps business users. Meanwhile, Google account holders can enjoy ClipPod for personal usage free-of-charge.
