Chinese smartphone makers have been quick in shifting to the next generation without any sort of hesitation. Something that is common to a lot of Chinese OEMs, especially the not-so-big-time ones, is the SoC vendor of choice: more often than not, these phones come with MediaTek processors. This naturally means that whenever there’s a new chipset release from MediaTek, there’s also an array of Chinese phones that see a launch with more or less the identical specifications. But, some manufacturers are quicker than others in bringing their players on the field!
Bluboo looks like one of those makers, and has announced the Bluboo X6 smartphone. It’s a sleek looking device which also packs a decent punch thanks to the specifications set it has under its hood. It comes with a 5.5-inch display, with a slightly disappointing 1280 x 720 pixel resolution along with the all new MediaTek MT6732 processor. If you aren’t aware, the MT6732 is among the first series of processors from MediaTek to have on-board support for FDD and TD LTE, which means pretty much all regions on the Earth are covered. The chipset has another trick up its sleeve which should intrigue you — a 64-bit processor. It isn’t only the iPhones and the Nexus’s that are getting 64-bit CPUs!
In this case, the MT6732 is clocked at a rather mild 1.3GHz through its four cores. Potential buyers and MediaTek itself would hope to see a performance bump from the 64-bit architecture, since the clock frequency certainly isn’t something to write home about. Anyway, other specifications of the Bluboo X6, besides a 5.5-inch 1280 x 720p display and 1.3GHz 64-bit quad-core CPU, include 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of on-board storage (expandable via MicroSD), an 8 MP rear camera and finally a 2 MP front facer. The X6 will draw juice from a 2,600 mAh battery, which we suspect should be able to take you through one work day of use.
A fingerprint sensor sits on the home button of the device, which should offer higher levels of security should it work as advertised. While all that makes a pretty picture, Bluboo might want to have its engineers work on an updated ROM since as stock, the X6 will have only Android v4.2 Jelly Bean.
