Uber begins testing UberFRESH in Santa Monica

Uber is doing another experiment, this time in Santa Monica. It’s called UberFRESH. And basically what it is, is they are delivering lunch to you in under 10 minutes. Pretty crazy right? Uber has a different meal each day of the week, for which they are running this experiment. Which starts today and ends September 5th. If you are in Santa Monica, you can open up the Uber app and order your lunch. It’ll cost you $12, and that includes a tip and delivery, it’ll also arrive in less than 10 minutes, nice and hot…unless it’s a sandwich then it won’t be hot. Lunch will only be served from 11-2:30pm and doesn’t run on the weekends or labor day. Additionally, every meal includes a cookie. That in of itself is a reason to order lunch using Uber, at least in my opinion.

Uber says that the driver will not deliver to your door, or into your office building. You’ll have to meet the driver at their car outside the building. Which I don’t think is a big deal. I typically meet the driver outside when I order delivery anyways. Usually because they get lost.

The way that Uber is differentiating itself from other delivery services is that others can take up to 45 minutes or longer, while Uber will be 10 minutes or less. Which is a big benefit, I think. And not having to pay a delivery fee on top of that isn’t bad either. Uber is running this experiment for about two weeks. So if you like the idea, and you live in Santa Monica, make sure you take advantage of using this service, so that Uber knows that people want to use it, and will use it. That way it will become another feature of Uber. Instead of just taking you places, it can deliver food to you as well. Sounds good, right?
