More Samsung rumors show up as OnePlus continues getting bad press. Meanwhile, those looking for a good computer deal can now add the Surface 2 to their lists.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 fingerprint reader features

Rumors of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 are abundant, but the latest murmur will be a bit more interesting for those who like their fingerprint readers. The new Note is said to feature Synaptics’ Natural ID solution. What does this mean, though?

The technology behind it allows Samsung to offer some interesting features. “Reliable” sources say the device’s fingerprint reader will be able to unlock your screen, enter Private Mode with fingerprint authentication, verify your Samsung account and process PayPal payments.

The most exciting of them all is a feature named Fingerprint Shortcuts. It will allow you to assign applications or shortcuts to each registered finger. There’s also Web Sign-in, which can help you sign into websites by simply swiping your finger.

Opinion: This is all very neat if you ask me, but I wonder how many of us would actually use these features. Personally, I would be all about Fingerprint Shortcuts, but I would likely ignore the other features, deeming them gimmicky.

This phone is on fire

OnePlus has been working hard to make build a reputable brand of itself, but their negative rep just keeps getting at them. The latest OnePlus-related bad news seems to revolve around a phone explosion. Ouch!

A user claims he was in the subway talking about the phone’s great battery life when suddenly… the very battery seemed to have exploded. Covered in flames, the device ruined his pants and gave him a small burn in his leg.

Thankfully, a OnePlus forums administrator quickly told him to open a ticket, which he would them personally hand over to Customer Support.

Opinion: Phone explosions happen, but usually they are the result of a cheap charger. In this case the phone wasn’t charging, though. What could be the issue?

Microsoft Surface 2 gets price cut

Nearly a year after its release, the Microsoft Surface 2 is finally seeing a price cut that may entice some of you to go grab it. The Surface 2 is now $100 cheaper, meaning you can purchase it for $349.

Do remember this is one of the few tablets to sport Windows RT, though, an OS that not many praise. If you can get past that, it will offer an enjoyable (while a bit limited) experience.

Opinion: Some believe this signals the dawn of a new era for the Surface family. Could we be seeing the Surface 3 soon?
