Here’s our newest round-up of the featured startups on our site this week. If you have startup tips or story suggestions, feel free to email us or tell us about your startup on this form. Any juicy tech news tips go here. Enjoy this week’s list!


1. Chunyu Yisheng | China


Chunyu Yisheng is an app that lets users remotely consult with physicians to diagnose their ailments, offering in-app chats and phone calls with real doctors. The startup has raised a series C round of funding from China International Capital Corporation (CICC) and Dunan Holding Group.




2. Preburn | India


Preburn, a Bangalore-based offline app distribution network which has recently been acquired by FreeCharge, one of India’s hottest startups. Preburn helps new smartphone users optimize their devices with useful apps. App publishers use Preburn to quickly grow their user base.




3. XingShuai Teach | China


Founded in 2008, Xingshuai Teach has about 32 courses, most in the areas of graphics, images, video, and design. The curriculum is a combination of interactive video and forum discussions. Xingshuai also has a mobile app so students can learn on the go. The company received a series B round of funding from Northern Light Venture Capital and Legend Capital.




4. Setipe | Indonesia


Setipe claims to be Jakarta’s first serious online dating site that drip-feeds Indonesian users a maximum of one match per day based on their personal preferences and detailed personality profile (engineered by a certified psychologist). The most important part about Setipe is that its profiles are not public, therefore no one else will ever know that users are on the site besides users themselves and the people they’re matched with. The startup has just received a new round of funding from a group of anonymous angel investors.




5. Omise | Thailand


Omise is an online payment system with two products designed for developers, and the other for non-developers. Both promise minimal online identification, no minimum monthly transactions, and lower transaction costs. The first product is a white-label payment API that functions like a Stripe for the emerging markets. The second is a payment app, similar to Square Cash, that allows merchants to accept money via Facebook, Instagram, Line, SMS ,or email. The startup is recently funded by Indonesia and Japan-based fund East Ventures.




6. RuangGuru | Indonesia


Ruangguru is an online marketplace that connects private tutors and students in Indonesia, offering courses on everything ranging from traditional classroom subjects to less-common computer education and sports skills. This week, the startup received seed funding of an undisclosed amount from East Ventures.




7. Research and Innovation | Japan


Research & Innovation, a Japanese startup which specializes in market research support, announced today that it has received approximately US$2.12 million in funding from Mizuho Capital, Jafco, and DBJ Capital.


The company has two main products. Mycomment, a service that incentivizes users to rate and judge products via free trials or even cold hard cash. Code, meanwhile, is an app that scans the barcodes of products. Users register those barcodes, add their reviews, and then get similar benefits as Mycomment users.




8. Spavista | Indonesia


Launched in May 2013, Spavista, the Indonesian platform which lets consumers search for and book beauty and wellness services, announced that it has received an angel investment from the founding team of Singapore’s automotive marketplace SGCarMart.




9. Jiuxian | China


Jiuxian is an online liquor store from China which specializes in wines and Chinese baijiu. It claims to have over 100,000 paying customers across 55 cities in China, with online stocks coming from more than 30,000 outlets. The startup also has a huge online-to-offline platform with physical storefronts that it hopes to expand.




10. Gear2Cam | Singapore


Gear2Cam is an Android app that connects your Android smartphone and Samsung Gear 2 smartwatch for photo taking. A user would need to mount his smartphone on a tripod, use the smartwatch as the viewfinder to compose the photo, and then snap the photo by tapping on the watch.




11. Sekai Labs | Japan


Sekai Labs connects Japanese corporations to individual or team-based contractors around Asia which have at least one member who can communicate smoothly in Japanese. Corporations define the project they need and can then browse for the team which has the necessary skills. Last week, the startup announced a funding round led by East Ventures, SMBC Venture Capital, and Mitsubishi UFJ Capital.




12. Chef Box | Singapore


Chef Box is not your typical meal delivery startup. Instead of sending ready-to-eat food to your doorstep, it sends their customers the ingredients and a recipe in a box. The startup primarily cater to those who are looking for healthier meals, and want to learn how to cook without the extra hassle




13. VersaFleet | Singapore


VersaFleet is a cloud-hosted one-stop portal designed by Sypher Labs to help fleet operators effectively manage their operations. It provides a full suite of features, like electronic job orders management, around the clock real-time tracking of vehicles via GPS systems, and automatic billing and invoicing upon job completion, among other things.
