Astro On-The-Go on Ipad and Internet explorer

With 11 channels for starters as well as Video-On-DemandCatch Up TV and Live EventsAstro On-The-Go aims to offer access to entertainment at any given time and place to Astro customers. First and foremost, he or she just needs to register an Astro ID at Astro's official website and link an Astro account to the ID before the service can be used through iPad app or onthego.astro.com.my.

One of the service's main features is that it allows users to seamlessly switch from one device to another and still able to watch a show without any disruption. In another word, users are able to pause the show that they are watching on their iPad and then resume from wherever they left off on an Internet browser. The service also uses dynamic bitrate tuning in order to broadcast the service to users on par with their Internet connection's quality. However, users are not able to set video size on the service as per YouTube.

Here's a brief demo on how Astro On-The-Go works:

For the time being, the service will be available only through Apple iPad and internet browsers. It will soon be extended to Apple iPhone; while Android devices will receive it sometime in the Phase II of the service's deployment timeline. As for other mobile operating system out there such as BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7, the company so far has no plans in offering On-The-Go service to those OS according to Astro's Chief Innovation Officer, Brian Lenz.
